A V ribbed belt is the single belt that drives the alternator, water pump and fan off the crank on a modern Cummins accessory drive. Because it is one belt doing every job, it is worth fitting the genuine part: rib pitch, length and cord construction all have to match the tensioner travel, and a belt that is even slightly long will let the tensioner sit at the end of its stroke and chirp.
