Genuine Fleetguard HF6399 Hydraulic Filter Cartridge | John Deere AT127608

Genuine Fleetguard HF6399 Hydraulic Filter Cartridge

Read off the box in front of us: PART NO. HF6399, QTY 1, DESCRIPTION Hydraulic Filter, Made in Mexico, on the standard red banded Fleetguard label, with our own Fleetguard shelf barcode below it. There is a small pen scrawl beside the part number that we could not read, so we are not going to guess at what it says.

This is a cartridge, not a spin on. There is no steel shell and no threaded base plate: the element drops into a housing on the machine and the housing cap seals it. At about a hundred and fifty millimetres across it is a large element, which is why the carton is so tall, and it belongs to the backhoe and loader hydraulic return circuits John Deere and Case built through that era. Two practical notes. Fit the new seals that come with the cartridge rather than reusing the old ones, and fill the housing before you cap it so the pump is not asked to pull air on the first crank.
