Genuine Fleetguard HF6553 Hydraulic Filter

A short fat carton, sealed, with the red Fleetguard label reading HF6553, Hydraulic Filter in three languages, quantity one, origin Mexico, and our own Fleetguard barcode across the top flap. There is faint marker writing on one side face that we could not make out, and we have not tried to interpret it.

HF6553 is the stubby high capacity spin on that excavator and dozer hydraulic circuits of the nineteen nineties and early two thousands were built around, with a one and three eighths by twelve thread and about two hundred and forty millimetres of height. Short and wide is deliberate on a hydraulic filter: the extra diameter buys media area without hanging the can out where a rock or a track pad can find it. On a Hitachi or Deere excavator this is normally the pilot or return filter, and it is the one that gets forgotten until the boom starts moving in stages instead of smoothly.
