This is a spin on with a one and a half by sixteen thread, so it threads into a hydraulic filter head the same way a lube filter threads into an engine. What sets a hydraulic spin on apart from a lube spin on is the media and the burst rating: hydraulic return circuits see pressure spikes and cold thick oil, and the element has to hold together and keep filtering through both. Fitting an oil filter with a matching thread into a hydraulic head is a classic field mistake and an expensive one, because when the media collapses the debris goes straight to the pump.
