This is a cartridge, not a spin on. There is no steel can and no threaded base plate, so the housing on the engine stays put and only the paper element and its seals are renewed. Two things matter when you fit one. Fit the new O rings that belong to the element rather than reusing the old ones, and torque the housing cap to spec by hand instead of leaning on it, because the cap is what seals the whole assembly.
