Gehl L98978 Fuel Water Separator Filter

Straight talk on this one. It came in as a bare filter in a clear bag with no carton, no hologram and no maker branding anywhere on it. What it does carry is L98978 stamped into the can itself, and L98978 is a Gehl fuel water separator number. So we can tell you with confidence what the part is and what it fits, but because there is no factory packaging we are not going to claim it is genuine Gehl stock. If genuine-only matters for your warranty, tell us and we will source you a boxed one instead.

The job it does is separate water out of diesel before the fuel reaches the injection pump. On a skid steer that is not a nice-to-have. These machines get fuelled out of jerry cans and farm tanks, both of which pick up condensation, and water in a high pressure fuel system chews injector tips and seizes pump plungers. A separator with a bowl gives the water somewhere to fall out and gives you somewhere to drain it from.
