Worth being precise about what is in the box. The carton is a plain Donaldson style box printed P534885, and somebody has written the Hyundai number 11FK-20090 on it in marker. Donaldson publishes P534885 against the Hyundai number 11FK-20090, so the hand written cross is correct, but the part itself is Donaldson production rather than Hyundai boxed stock. We have listed it that way instead of calling it genuine Hyundai.

This is the inner element, sometimes called the safety element. It never sees much dirt in normal service because the outer filter takes all of it. Its whole job is to protect the engine during the two minutes the housing is open and the outer element is out, and to catch anything that gets past a damaged outer. Replace it every third outer change, or immediately if the outer has been found split.
