That is the fresh air side of the cab HVAC system, the filter that cleans outside air on its way into the cab, as opposed to the recirculation screen that filters air already inside.

Hyundai splits cab filtration into two elements on the HX series and it is worth knowing which one you are ordering. The inlet filter is the one that plugs first, because it is taking raw jobsite air. When it does, cab pressurisation drops off, the air conditioning stops keeping up on a hot afternoon, and the windows fog in the morning.
