Genuine Hyundai 31EH-00480 Hydraulic Tank Breather Element

This one came off the shelf still in its sealed Hyundai Core Motion genuine parts bag. The printed label reads part number 31EH-00480, description ELEMENT, reference block VK05 P1 QCD1 G12A14A1, batch H2107, one each, made in the Philippines. Core Motion is Hyundai's own filtration line, so this is factory stock rather than a pattern element wearing a Hyundai number.

It is the breather element that sits on top of the hydraulic reservoir. Every time the cylinders extend and retract the oil level in that tank rises and falls, and the tank has to breathe air in and out to keep up. This element is the only thing standing between jobsite dust and several hundred litres of hydraulic oil. It is a cheap part that quietly protects an expensive system, which is exactly why it gets forgotten until a pump starts sounding unhappy. If the breather plugs solid the tank pulls a vacuum and the charge pump starts cavitating instead of drawing clean oil.
